Catch up to day 6!

Sorry for the delay of getting things posted... I have some items I need to get caught up on.

Day 1: June 21, 2010
First day, not really sure what to expect since I'm coming into this position needing training, but still very confident. Today I went through the preliminaries, such as getting a computer, getting trained on the safety protocol, and working on gathering data.

I think I have an idea of my project. There are fill weights that Proctor and Gamble has to meet. They typically overfill them to make sure that they stay above that level. My job is to gather data and find out what can be done to get those fill weights as close to the target level as possible. This will definately save the company a lot of money.

One cool thing is that I figured out how to extra the data from one program to excel. (No this was not easy! And stop asking, "how many engineers does it take to screw in a light bulb?!?")

Day 2: June 22, 2010
Today I spent the majority of time trying to format the collection process of the data. I also met with another gentleman who has given me other information and contacts on the line. I'm noticing that this is truly my project. A lot of leeway is given to you for your job here. It's kind of frightening on one hand (I'm used to having more people to work with in school), but I like it.


It seems like the process of how to collect the data has not been created yet. The past two days have been spent on how to do it. Hopefully this idea that we have actually works for tomorrow. The engineer I'm working with is going on vacation.

Day 3: June 23, 2010

Today, I'm on my own. Well, the idea did not work, or I might have messed up somewhere. Probably the later, but I'm trying my own way on Excell. Just getting this format down is taking up a lot of time, in my opinion. I think I almost have it.

Day 4: June 24, 2010
I'm noticing that this project is my project. I have been given a lot of responsibility, so today, I took it on. I went down to two of the lines I'm getting data from and talked with some of the members who work on them to understand the process. This took some guts, being new here, but I'm glad I did. I got some great information. One thing that I'm noticing, it is about who you know here in this business.

I got the format I need for excell!!! Praise the Lord! Finally! Now I can start going through this data and interpreting it!

Day 5: June 25, 2010
I did some number crunching and reviewed somethings on statistics (like standard deviation). It was one of those things that I thought I would never need to teach, and I never quite got, but I need it now.

I was planning on getting a lot of data today but it looks like a lot of the lines are shut down early It was only 11:30 AM. I wonder is it like this on every Friday? Well today was a day for number crunching.

Day 6: June 28, 2010
Today was my first day getting in here early. I got in at aroun 6:15 AM, and I'm not tired. I now know what to do the day before to be here by 6.

Well I got a lot of data today, being that the lines are back to normal. I have been crunching numbers and comparing my beginning data from last week. I'm seeing somethings so far, but definately need to keep working at it to make more definate conclusions. I'm know what type of data that P&G likes is needed. It's coming along!
